CIA whistleblower appeared Wednesday and stated that the government covered up the likely laboratory-leaked origin of COVID-19 during a senate hearing led by Senator Rand Paul. Paul argued that the government hid important information about COVID-19 from the American people.“

 

At the center of the government side of this circle was Dr. Anthony Fauci,” said Paul. “He [Fauci] had a longstanding relationship with the national security and intelligence apparatus on biological threats, dangerous pathogens, classified life sciences researches, pandemic preparedness and COVID origins.”

 

Paul accused Fauci of lying about covid’s origins, pointing out that Fauci himself called the lab-origin claim a conspiracy theory. Paul also accused Fauci’s agency of paying off scientists to remove the lab-leak theories from publicly disclosed documents.

 

“[This hearing] is about a federal apparatus that told the American people to trust the science while hiding the machinery that shaped the science,” said Paul. “The government owes its people the evidence.”“Intelligence community leaders and senior analysts downplayed the possibility that the COVID pandemic originated as a result of a lab incident,” said CIA witness, James Erdman III.

 

Erdman stated that intelligence analysts found evidence showing that COVID originated from a lab-leak. But Fauci used his position to intentionally cover up this evidence. Erdman also claimed that the CIA resisted congressional oversight and refused to provide requested documents.

 

He stated that relationships within institutions led to conflicting interests. He even claimed that Fauci used biased experts who already supported his ‘natural-origin’ ideas to bend evidence he needed to support his theory. Republican Senator Joni Ernst criticized the government’s unfair response to those who questioned the official narrative and how they were labeled as conspiracy theorists and often censored.

 

Senator Bernie Moreno also expressed his frustration at the nontransparency of government and more so that those involved had not been held accountable for their actions. “What makes America unique is that we don't allow that kind of corruption in our government,” Moreno stated. “There has to be explicit accountability for individuals who profited off of the misinformation, the shaming of Americans, and the systematic destruction of lots and lots of things in this country.

 

”Several senators argued that Americans lost trust in public health agencies because information about COVID-19 and vaccine policies was inconsistent or withheld.“This is unbelievable. And then people wonder, gee, why are the American people not trusting of elected officials? I wonder, why are they?” Senator Josh Hawley said. “I'll tell you why, because they're repeatedly, we are repeatedly lied to by these people, lied to and lied to and lied to.”

 

Paul ended by praising the Trump administration while expressing disappointment in the Biden administration about the response to the situation. The hearing also led to a discussion on creating stronger oversight systems to keep this kind of coverup from happening again.
